Letterpress continues: 'Some idea of the force of the wind may be gleaned from this view. The embankment on the side of the Canal, which is built of stone and brick several feet in thickness, is stripped along its entire length, and what was once a mass of closely-packed dwellings is reduced to a heap of ruins.
