The unknown photographer of this c.1890 print was possibly a member of the Public Works Department. The album of 46 prints detailing the construction of the Nadrai Aqueduct, Lower Ganges Canal was found in the Map Room of the India Office Library and Records in the 1970s and depicts various stages of its construction between May 1887 and 1890.A caption accompanying this print reads, "Total test load 2,172 tons or including weight of well itself and weight of concrete hearting 3,248 tons, or 7.2 tons per square feet of base, subsidence 0.84 inches.".
