Photograph from the Crofton Collection: 'Public works including the Manora Breakwater and the River Son canal system' taken in 1872. The view was taken during the building of the Son canal system and shows the construction of the anicut across the River Son at Dehri. Scouring sluices were positioned at either end of the weir in order to control the supply of water to the canals that branched off from it. The anicut was constructed between 1869 and 1875 at a cost of 15 lakhs of rupee. Photographer: Unknown.
