Resumo
Photograph of the snowy heights from Wanga Valley, taken by Samuel Bourne in 1863, on the last leg of his first Himalayan journey. He set out from Shimla in July of that year and spent ten weeks taking photographs of the mountains, the scenery along the River Sutlej, the Taree Pass and Glacier and finally descended to the Wanga Valley, in the Himalayan foothills, before returning to Shimla. He submitted many photographs to the 6th Annual Exhibition of the Bengal Photographic Society of 1863, impressing judges and critics with the clarity and composition of his images, and won a gold medal for one of his views of the Wanga Valley. Photographer: Bourne, Samuel.
