ResumoSingular indeed was the fate of Aristodemos, the Spartan warrior who, after having been punished, because of his absence at the Thermopylai, by the atimia of the tremblers, died so gloriously in the battle at Plataiai that he became a serious “candidate” for the prize of courage. No less singular, in the proper sense, is his historical fate, since it may be that he fully deserves to be called Aristodemos the trembler.
