Resumopublication of Le Chercheur de trésors in 1837 is considered to be the origin of the Canadian narrative in French.The novel contains stories from the Canadian oral tradition and it apparently lacks homogeneity in the sequence of its episodes.The book is a black magic novel unveiling the uneasyness of a community for whom supematural presence is a tangible reality.In addition, the three main characters express the author's self-affinnation against society.FinaUy.Le Chercheur de trésors presents the originality of being a foundational book while completely different for later works.
