ResumoThe Descoberto River Hydrographic Basin (DRHB is of great importance for the Distrito Federal in function to shelter the reservoir of the Descoberto it supplies about 60% of the DF population. The geochemistry alterations in the sediments had been studied in this paper to identify the possible occurrences of high concentrations of chemical elements and its possible origins. Nine points had been selected to the long of the basin, during the dry season and the rainy season, totalizing 18 samples, for to determination of elements Ba, Cr, Cu, Mn, Ni, P, V, La, Co, Zn, Sr, Y, Si, Ti, Al, Fe, Ca and Mg using ICP/AES. The Na and K were analyzed by AAS. Also were determined granulometric analyses and the volatile material by loss on ignition. The results of Al, Ca, Mg and Na not exceeded the crustal average. The elements Ba, P and Mn are in significant concentrations and P and Mn are association with the urban occupation. The Sr, Y, Ni, Cu and Co are as trace-elements not showing evidences of alterations. The statistical treatment was possible to characterize elements groups associated to the geology of the area or influence anthropic. The results shown elevated of the elements P, Mn, K, Ca, Mg e Ba for some specific sampling stations, mainly those located in urban and/or crop areas, demonstrating the effect of the anthropic activities in region and contribution of Distrito Federal in the process of alteration geochemistry in DRHB.
