Resumo

In this overview the pharmacokinetic behaviour of carprofen in healthy subjects is described. Carprofen is rapidly and completely absorbed. The maximum concentration in plasma is reached after 1 hour and the absolute bioavailability of the oral forms reaches values of over 90%. The elimination half-life is 10 hours. The multiple-dose kinetics could be predicted adequately, using pharmacokinetic parameters of the single-dose kinetics. A clear accumulation of carprofen in plasma was not observed. In clinical-therapeutic use the kinetics are not significantly influenced by food intake or by age.
