Resumo

The myosin light chain kinases [MLCK, E.C. 2.7.1.37] are a family of tissue-specific isozymes which share as their substrate the phosphoryl- or P-light chain.component of myosin. Distinct forms of MLCK have been isolated from smooth, skeletal, and cardiac muscle. The enzyme appears to be ubiquitous, with non-muscle MLCK envisaged as being very similar, if not identical, to the smooth muscle isozyme (For a review see (43)).
