ResumoThe supply of oxygen to the tissues of warm-blooded animals follows a common underlying principle. Within it, each organ has its own particular properties. This has just been shown very impressively for the brain by Leniger-Follert (this volume). The heart, also, has its special aspects of oxygen supply: periodic interruption of blood flow due to the heart action, low oxygen content in the coronary veins, continuous changes in the oxygen requirements and so on.
