ResumoThis retrospective exhibition marks the tenth anniversary of the death of John Steuart Curry. For the decade of the great Depression his contribution was a major element in the definition and character of its artistic explanation. World War II and another decade of readjustment have wrought dramatic changes in the American tradition so that an historical review of Curry's remarkable achievement might help to clarify the critical problem of contemporary art and its function in the society of our time.
