ResumoThe mortality rate in sepsis reemains high despite many therapeutic efforts. Initial treatment of sepsis, in addition to surgical treatment of the underlying cause, is aimed to prevent circulatory shock leading to multiple organ failure, including liver failure. Therefore, vasopressor agents such as norepinephrine (NE) are frequently administered to restore vascular tone and improve tissue perfusion (Vincent et al., 1991).
