Resumo

The incidence of first–episode myocardial infarction (and sudden death) has been determined from an epidemiological study of coronary heart disease during the years 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968. This appears to be the first such study on an Australian population. The methodology used has allowed comparison of results with figures published from 12 other studies in the Western world. The Albury–Wodonga study focuses attention on a relatively high incidence of the disease in women, and in both sexes in old age.
