Linguistic Variation and Morphology

The gallicisms employed to designate people that were introduced into medieval Spanish are studied here only at the level of contents. The meaning and values of medieval French words are described, together with the semantic modifications produced when adopted by Spanish. In those lexemes with a wide content, that have more than one sense in Old French, contents-restrictions, term-specialization, and preference for only one of the possible values are examined. On the other hand, those words with less wide contents, in which designation prevails, emerge in both languages with the same referents since it is a case of a lexicon composed mainly by terminology.
