Su victoria en las elecciones nicaraguenses del 5 de noviembre fue consecuencia de la reforma constitucional sellada en un pacto de impunidad con el ex-presidente Arnoldo Aleman, que genero una division del tradicional partido liberal y cambio el sistema electoral para adaptarlo a las necesidades del sandinismo. Asi, Ortega triunfo frente a una oposicion dividida, con un porcentaje inferior al que habia obtenido en elecciones anteriores, y luego de emitir todo tipo de senales de moderacion. Si el sandinismo siempre fue mas una denominacion que una ideologia, ?por que no un sandinismo de derecha? EnglishAfter 16 years, Daniel Ortega returns to power. His victory in the 5th of November Nicaraguan elections, was the result of the constitutional reform pacted with ex-President Arnaldo Aleman in exchange for the latter?s inmunity, thus provoking a division in the traditional Liberal Party and a change in the electoral system which favored the Sandinists. In this way, Ortega triumphed in the face of a divided opposition with a lower percentage than in previous elections, and after transmitting all the imaginable signals of moderation. If Sandinism was always more of a denomination than an ideology, why not a right-wing Sandinism?
