ResumoThe two Uni ted St ates primary radium standards ha ve bee n co mpared with t he British primary ra dium standard and t he Cana di an nat iona l radium standa rd (1) by an ioni zation method , usin g t he N BS stand a rd electroscope, (2) calorimetrically , using t he P elt ier-cooling radiat ion ba la nce, (3) by means of a Geige r-Mi.illercoun te r, a nd (4) using a scin tilla tion co u nte r. \IiThere t here is li ttle or no difference in gamm a-ray source self-a bsorp tio n, t he four methods should , a nd in fact do, give good agree men t.In t he case of t he Cana di a n national r adium s ta nd a rd t he difference i n t he res ul ts ob tained is a n indi cation of a difference in sour ce self-a bsorp t ion.I Figures in b rackets indicate the literature references on page 272 .
