ResumoThe aim of this paper is to carry out an analysis of the increasing impact that the English language is having in our Canarian society. The study focuses on the headlines of two current newspapers: La Provincia published in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and El Dia published in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. We provide a list of all the different anglicisms that occur in the headlines of both newspapers throughout 1997.
