ResumoCave chiropterofauna (Mammalia: Chiroptera) of Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, Brazil. The Chapada Diamantina has several caves, pre-historical and colonial sites. The scientific interest for this region is associated to the presence of different ecosystems: arid mountain scrub (campos rupestres), savanna (cerrados), gallery forests and thorn scrub (caatingas). The Chapada Diamantina is situated in the central region of the state of Bahia, northeast of Brazil, in the domains of the caatinga. Until recently there where no records for bats in the caves of Chapada Diamantina, and only in 1999, species where related for two caves. This study gathers information about the bats in thirteen different caves. A total of twelve species where registered, of these, four are new records for the caves of Chapada Diamantina , raising the total number of species from eleven to fifteen, and the number of studied caves from two to fifteen in the Chapada Diamantina. It is important to quote the need to preserve these caves, where many are not located in preservation areas and are suffering alterations due to anthropic actions. Keywords: Caatinga, caves, Chiroptera, northeastern Brazil.
