Resumo

Abstract Volumetric measurements in the liquid phase are reported for 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) and five of its mixtures with 2,2,4-trimethylpentane over the temperature range 278.15 to 338.15 K for pressures up to the lower of either near the freezing pressure of DCE or 280 MPa. Densities have been measured at atmospheric pressure for DCE and the mixtures. Isothermal compressibilities, isobaric expansivities and molar heat capacities have been calculated for DCE from the volumetric data; isothermal compressibilities, isobaric expansivities and internal pressures have been evaluated for the mixtures. There is no significant indication that pressure or temperature induced variations in the relative proportions of the trans and gauche forms of DCE affect the volumetric properties of the mixtures.
