ResumoHalokinetic wavelength analysis and physical models with approximate dynamic scaling indicate that there is no need for the mother salt in the Nordkapp Basin to have been extraordinarily thick. Slow sedimentation allowed significant spreading of the surficial levels of salt stocks in the Nordkapp Basin during the late Triassic to Jurassic. Such salt spreading accounts for the margins of salt structures being closely spaced despite their centre points having a normal wavelength along the basin axis.
