Resumo

Aim of the article is to analyze digital divide in the regions of the Republic of Lithuania and to emphasize aspects of its reduction in the context of the politics of sustainable develop-ment. The analysis of scientific literature, law acts and documents, comparative and logical anal-ysis, induction, synthesis, graphics, statistical analysis of documents, as well as generalization methods are applied in this article. These methods help to define what digital divide means, to assess the level of digital divide and its differences in the regions of the Republic of Lithuania, to analyze the meaning of information and ICT in the politics of sustainable development and the role of this politics in solving problem of reduction of digital divide. The digital divide is defined as a gap between those who have access to information, ICT and its devices and those who do not have this access. Increase of digital divide is tending upwards in the different regions in the Republic of Lithuania. Households in Alytus, Tauragė, counties of Telsiai and country places have the least number of the internet access. One of the priorities of the politics of sustainable development is reduction of digital divide by developing ICT, supplying learning and finance services and changing people attitudes.
