Resumo

Este artigo faz uma análise linguística das falas em Latim presentes no longa-metragem “A Paixão de Cristo”, filme este produzido pelo ator e diretor norte-americano Mel Gibson. Pretende-se, neste artigo, discutir o uso de uma língua dita “morta” em filme que retrata as últimas horas de Cristo. Os resultados apontam que a pronúncia do Latim que mais foi utilizada nas cenas pertence à Pronúncia Eclesiástica (ou Romana), com algumas formas advindas da Pronúncia Restaurada (ou Reconstituída)., PALAVRAS-CHAVE: A Paixão de Cristo. Análise linguística Abstract This article does a linguistic analysis of the dialogues in Latin present in the film “The Passion of the Christ”, which was produced by North American actor and director Mel Gibson. The aim of this paper is to discuss the use of a “dead” language in a movie that portrays the last hours of Christ. The results show that the Latin pronunciation used more often in the scenes belong to the Ecclesiastic Pronunciation (or Roman Pronunciation), with some forms coming from the Restored Pronunciation (or Reconstituted Pronunciation).
