Resumo

Este artigo discute a cultura popular como patrimonio cultural no contexto atual das politicas publicas de cultura e suas aplicacoes; no caso maranhense, a danca do Tambor de Crioula. Aponta que, no passado, manifestacoes de cultura popular eram perseguidas, e hoje sao assumidas como patrimonio cultural do pais. Destaca a danca do Tambor de Crioula que praticamente nao era conhecida, passando a ser documentada somente ha pouco tempo. Enfatiza o interesse de pesquisadores, fotografos, documentaristas, uma vez que o tema ja aparece em livros, artigos de jornais e revistas, DVDs, CDs, com a presenca de numerosos grupos registrados em Sao Luis. Apresenta, ainda, uma sintese sobre o conhecimento desta manifestacao de cultura popular no passado e sua divulgacao atual em funcao do interesse turistico-cultural e do apoio das politicas culturais. POPULAR CULTURE AND INTANGIBLE HERITAGE:the context of Maranhao´s “tambor de crioula” Abstract: This article proposes to discuss popular culture as cultural heritage in the current context of public cultural policies and their application in the case of “Tambor de Crioula” in Maranhao. In the past, manifestations of popular culture were persecuted and they are now understood to be the country’s cultural heritage. The dance of “Tambor de Crioula” was hardly known and documented until recently. It is now the interest of reserarchers, photographers, filmmakers, appearing in books, in newspapers and magazines articles, DVDs, CDs, as well as it is attended by numerous groups registered in the city of Sao Luis. A synthesis of knowledge of this manifestation of popular culture in the past and its current disclosure regarding the interests of tourism and culture and the support of cultural policies is presented in this paper.
