ResumoThis article presents the results of a qualitative study on the expectations and interests of potential beneficiaries of the Program PENTA-UC —an extracunicular enrichment program for academically talented children and with respect to the topic and characteristics ofthe program. 43 focus groups with a total of4()() students identified as potential academic talents, thcir parents, teachers and school directors of the communes of La Florida and Puente Alto were conducted. The results allow access to their social representations concerning the characteristics of academically talented children and youth, as well as their fears and expectations concerning their education. Data is contrasted with existing literature, finding similarities between these social lepresentations and theoretical definitions, as well as between fears and expectations and myths and stcreotypes about education for academically talented students. The results of this unedited study Will contribute future lines of research and intervention concerning this field in Chile.
