ResumoTo evaluate the potential for regeneration of trees species, the floristic and structure of three growth stages (seedling, juvenile, adult) were examined. One hundred plots of one square meter were used to evaluate sapling stage (individuals taller than 5cm and less than 1m). Juvenile and adult tree evaluations were based on data obtained in another concurrent studies in Volta Velha. Species richness and species density were higher in sapling than in older stages. Almost all species declined in density from seedling to adult stages. The high density of Rapanea venosa, flex theezans, Erytroxylum vacciniifolium and Ilex microdonta in sapling and juvenile stages reinforce their probability to eventually occupy the adult stages.
