Grain yield and coffee bean quality in response to population density Higher coffee planting densities increase sanitary problems with Hemileia vastatrix and Hypothenemus hampei, since higher population densities increase environmental relative humidity. Therefore, it is possible that the higher plant densities decrease the physiological and health quality of coffee beans. The present work was carried out to evaluate the influence of the increase in plant density on yield and physiological and health coffee bean quality. Four years old coffee plants, cultivar IAPAR 59, were evaluated using five plant densities in two crop years.
