English Abstract: The objective of this research was to conduct a socioeconomic analysis of the ‘tianguista’ in the city of Texcoco, Mexico to identify factors that make people look for informal trade under the focus of four theories. The analysis was performed using the techniques of descriptive statistics and life stories. The study revealed that 44% of respondents venture into the street vendors by the lack of employment, 26% attribute it to low education and 13% having no job and career skills. We found that the informal traders’ ages go from 40 to 50 years of age having a basic level of education (primary) and there are also those ranging between 18 and 30 years of age, and with high school level, within the same issue. This is a problem that the Federal government and State should address, because more and more young people are participating in the informal economy of the country.
