Resumo

Introduction: There are various criteria based on which society has been divided into different classes. Different ways have been adopted by vari-ous social scientists for determin-ing the social status of individuals or groups. These criteria are occu-pation, wealth, birth, race, religion, education etc. but just one criterion is not sufficient to classify strata. Some of the commonly used socio-economic status (SES) scales are Kuppuswamy, B.G Prasad and Uday Pareek scales. Since these be-ing commonly used SES the pre-sent article intends to provide an update
