Resumo

This article discusses the press-dramaturgy relations in the life and work of Brazilian writer Nelson Rodrigues (1912-1980). First, it presents the trajectory of the playwright in the Brazilian journalism through the informations brought in the biography made by Ruy Castro, an experience that has furnished inspiration for his fictional universe and gave him an dynamic and efficient narrative style. Next, it’s analyzed the representation of the press in three of his plays (Viuva, porem honesta; Boca de ouro e O beijo no asfalto), in which he questions the criteria used by the theatre criticism on newspapers and also the transformation of news into a theatrical spectacle created by the press.
