ResumoThis article concerns the modernization of the brazilian music, specially the Tropicalia movement, which, after accepting and mixing rock with the urban music known as MPB, tried to do the same with the sertanejo tradition. The life of Rogerio Duprat is studied, specially the period after 1968, when he tried to keep moving the musical experiments within the mass culture. A study of the bibliography concerning the Tropicalia usually prefers to deal with the institutionalization of the movement rather than exploring its diverse and ambiguous stories.
