ResumoResumo: A Guiana Inglesa e o Suriname, embora nao sejam paises latinos, fazem parte da America do Sul e com ela interagem. No passado, os dois paises demonstraram uma formacao social sui generis , de rebelioes escravas e formacao de comunidades quilombolas das mais significativas de todo continente. Apos a emancipacao dos cativos advindos da Africa, uma onda de emigracao de um continente tambem colonizado, a Asia, compos o espectro restante da forca de trabalho assalariada, relegando problemas mas tambem oportunidades para o futuro. Neste artigo, abordo a interseccao de pontos chaves da historia no seculo XIX, intentando aclarar alguns contextos importantes de nacoes algo ignotas para a historiografia brasileira. Palavras-chaves: historia, Guiana, Suriname, politica, economia The Extreme North of South America: The British Guiana and Suriname in theNineteen Century Abstract: The British Guiana and Suriname, although not Latin’s countries, are part of South Americaand interact with it. In the past, those two countries showed a sui generis social formation, with slave’s rebellions and formation of communities of runaways slaves some of the mostimportant in the whole continent. After the emancipation of captives that came from Africa, awave of emigration from another colonized continent, Asia, composed the remainderspectrum of salaried labor force, generated problems but also opportunities for the future. Inthis article, my approach is about the intersection among keys points of XIX history, aimingclear up some important contexts of nations unknown for the Brazilian historiography.
