Resumo

A checklist of the species of the tribe Pronophilini (Nymphalidae, Satyrinae) occurring in the Colombian Western Cordillera is elaborated, including data of first ever sampling of diurnal Lepidoptera in the paramos of this range, in the Tatama, Citara and Cerro Frontino massifs. A total of 85 species are reported. Five new species and five new subspecies are described, three of which, Neopedaliodes yeyo Pyrcz & Rodriguez, sp. n., Pedaliodes tatama Pyrcz & Rodriguez, sp. n. and Lymanopoda zebra Pyrcz & Rodriguez, sp. n., endemic of the paramo. 18 species are reported for the first time for the Western Cordillera, and one Panyapedaliodes traceyannae Pyrcz & Viloria for Colombia. The identity of P. pheretias form griseola Weymer, and of the female paratype of P. gustavi Viloria, L. Miller & J. Miller are discussed. Biogeographical patterns are analyzed, especially species richness, endemism ratio and the affinities of Western Cordilleras with other ranges of the northern Andes.
