This essay aims to discuss the relevance current of the debate about fetishism in music and the regression of listening (Uber Fetischcharakter in der Musik und die Regression des Horens) in the work of Theodor W. Adorno, aiming to show some contours of discussion, some possibilities for understanding the consumption of popular music and the limits imposed, in the context of music education, through the cultural industry.
