ResumoThis article discusses a central issue in the area of Linguistics, especially in semantic studies: the correlation between language and thought. Different paradigms treat this question in different ways. One of the aims is to show how in them philosophical questions mix with linguistic issues. The privileged paradigm is cognitive linguistics. From its perspectives, a third element enters as co-determinant in this correlation: the body. From this broad discussion, the text gets to a more restricted field: the semantics of Biblical Hebrew. The study is part of the constant process of clarification of the theoretical basis of a new dictionary in production: the Semantic Dictionary of Biblical Hebrew. It describes the theoretical process behind this project.
