Multiphase equilibrium for binary and ternary mixtures containing diethyl carbonate (DEC), water and ethanol Abstract The solubility of DEC in water and the solubility curves of the diethyl carbonate (DEC) + water + ethanol ternary system between 296.15 and 338.15K are reported. The results confirm the presence of binary azeotropes using plots x-y of the binary constituents at 353.15K and 363.15K and the absence of ternary azeotropes by the azeotropic rule. The experimental data were correlated with the NRTL and UNIQUAC models, showing that both models provide a good representation of the system. The binary interaction parameter for the ternary system and their binary systems are reported in function of temperature in this work. Keywords: solubility, azeotropes, additive, DEC.
