One might, with reservations, compare such increased interest with that shown in the past toward the varied manifestations of syphilis.The term lupus erythematosus was introduced by Cazenave2in 1851 to describe the skin lesions of fixed erythema, follicular plugging, adherent scaling, atrophy and telangiectasia.
