ResumoBiomechanical and Bioenergetical factors determining swimming performance Two of the main goals in the Biomechanics of Sports it is to characterise motor patterns and to increase the motor effi ciency. The increase of the effi ciency is assumed to be one way to access better performances. In this perspective, the Bio- physics it is a knowledge area in the edge of the Classic Mechanics and the Physiology. Competi- tive swimming it is one of the sports with more studies around the bioenergetical implications and its repercussions to the effi ciency of several locomotion models. The purpose of this paper was to do a revision of the actual state of art about the relationships between performance, bioenergetical and biomechanical factors in competitive swimming.
