Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar a evolucao da cultura da uva no municipio de Sant’Ana do Livramento e suas potencialida­des frente a localizacao geografica, considerando os aspectos fisicos, como o solo e o clima. Procura-se tambem verificar como esta sendo aceita esta nova cultura e quais os maiores beneficiados com o setor. Para a realizacao deste trabalho foi necessario realizar con­sultas bibliograficas e trabalho de campo, sendo entrevistados produtores e funcionarios dos estabelecimentos. A partir dos dados colhi­dos constatou-se que hoje o municipio possui 33 produtores. Foi nos ultimos sete anos que o plantio se intensificou, e a area plantada, que era de 539 hectares em 1999, passou para 923 no ano de 2006, um crescimento de 41,61%. Apesar das dificuldades enfrentadas na sua implementacao, a uva surge como alternativa a secular pecuaria, gerando mais emprego e agregando mais renda. Nao obstante, ela pode abrir caminho para outras culturas frutiferas que seriam de grande importância para o desenvolvimento economico pautado pela agricultura e fixacao do homem ao campo. EVOLUTION OF THE GRAPE CROP THE COUNTY OF SANT’ANA DO LIVRAMENTO - RS Abstract This paper analyses the evolution of the grape culture in the county of Sant’Ana do Livramento and its potentiality over the geographic position, considering the physical aspects like soil and climate. It is also verified how this new culture is being accepted and who are the main beneficiary with the sector. To this work it was necessary to realize bibliographic research and field work, where producers and employees of the establishments were interviewed. From the obtained data it was noticed that the county has thirty-three producers. The culture was intensified on the last seven years, and the cultivated area, that was 539 hectares in 1999, increased to 923 in the year of 2006, an increasing of 41,61%. In spite of difficulties during its implementation, the grape crop appears like an alternative against the secular cattle, generating more jobs and income. Also, it can open the way to others fruit cultures that would be very important to the economic increasing ruled by the agriculture and establishment of the man in the farm. Key-words: Agriculture.
