ResumoPresent study was carried out for weeds management in guava nursery at Punjab Agricultural University, Regional Fruit Research Station, Bahadurgarh (Patiala) during 2012 and 2013. For this one year old seedlings of guava cultivar Sardar were planted in one square meter plots. The treatments were T1 (pendimethalin preplanting @1.0L/acre), T2 (pendimethalin preplanting (@1.5 L/acre), T3 (pendimethalin pre-planting @1.0L/acre with paddy mulch), T4 (pendimethalin pre-planting (@1.5 L/acre with paddy mulch), T5 (pendimethalin post-planting @1.0L/acre), T6 (pendimethalin post-planting (@1.5 L/acre), T7 (pendimethalin post-planting @1.0L/acre and paddy mulch), T8 (pendimethalin post-planting (@1.5 L/acre with paddy mulch), T9 paddy straw alone, T10 polythene mulch alone, T11 control. The result of the experiment shows that the weeds can be controlled by the use of different treatments satisfactorily. The minimum weed infestation i.e. weeds count 0.78 was recorded in treatment T6 90 days after treatment. Whereas maximum weeds count were recorded 34.33 in T9 i.e. paddy straw mulch alone followed by control. The vigor of guava seedlings in term of seedling height, girth, fresh weight, dry weight, no. of leaves/plant were recorded 90 days after various treatments. The results of the experiment show that the seedling height 90 days after treatments ranged from 17.64 to 41.24 cm among various treatments. The maximum seedling height (41.24cm) was recorded in T1 treatments followed by T3. The girth of seedling ranged from 0.86 cm to 1.68 cm and maximum girth of guava seedlings were recorded in T1 treatments and minimum 0.86 cm in control. The maximum fresh and dry weights (233.71 & 32.87 g) were recorded in T11 treatments, respectively and minimum in T8 and T7 treatments, respectively.
