In our previous study, we demonstrated the PEG coated gold nano-particles can be used as a novel CT contrast agent for blood pool imaging (angiography) and for diagnosis of hepatoma, suggesting gold nanoparticle-based CT contrast agent may be able to overcome limitations of conventional iodine based contrast agents.
