ResumoA detailed study of the electrical and magnetic properties of polycrystalline ${\mathrm{La}}_{0.52}{\mathrm{Gd}}_{0.15}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{0.33}{\mathrm{MnO}}_{3}$ has been carried out. This perovskite-type compound should be a canted ferromagnetic metal at low temperatures. The magnetization and conductivity show considerable thermal hysteresis, indicating a first-order canted ferromagnetic state-to-paramagnetic state transition. Application of a magnetic field $H=1.5\mathrm{T}$ leads to a metamagnetic transition from canted ferromagnetic ordering to ferromagnetic ordering up to 95 K, and magnetoresistance $(\ensuremath{\Delta}\ensuremath{\rho}/{\ensuremath{\rho}}_{0})$ larger than 90% over a temperature range $\ensuremath{\sim}30\mathrm{K}$ has been observed.
