ResumoAbstract An x‐ray study has been made of several alkylated dicarboxylic acids. The presence of atomic groupings similar to those in high molecular weight compounds has furnished interesting information about some structural features of high molecular weight compounds which cannot be directly established in the study of their structure. An interesting indication has been grasped about the non‐equivalence of the valence angles on CH 2 and on CH(CH 3 . On this basis, the internal rotation angles, which characterize the conformation of isotactic and syndiotactic polypropylene and of the alternating crystalline copolymer ethylene–butene‐2‐ cis , have been recalculated.
