Resumo

The generation process of 'spike' bursts is investigated. It is assumed that these bursts are caused by plasma waves excited in the process of the quasilinear relaxation of the electron stream in the solar corona. The time evolution of bursts and their association with Type III radio emission are considered. The possibility of rather short-lived (3 x 10$sup -3$ - 3 x 10$sup - 2$s) bursts corresponding to the second harmonic of the plasma frequency is pointed out. We note that the induced scattering of plasma waves, accompanied by a decrease in the wave number, is essential to an explanation of the strong polarization that the bursts are observed to have.
