ResumoThe author describes his personal odyssey in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). He shares his earliest clinical experience responsible for the evolution of CBT and reviews the application of CBT to depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and schizophrenia. According to the author, the future of CBT will be tested with severe psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe personality disorders; in the treatment of children and adolescents; and within the practice of primary care.
