ResumoOne of the main elements for project and security of small reservoirs is the spillway dimension. The objective of this work was to develope analytic method to determine the outflow, the greatest temporary volume storage in the reservoir and the spillway's dimensions. This method uses adimensional parameters that reflect the features of tributary hydrograph of de hydraulic basin's topography and the spillway. The methodology used is based on the resolution of an adimensional differential equation that describes the routing of flows through reservoirs. It shows the inflow hydrograph by a gamma function and the storage as function of the topographycs parameters. A comparative analysis of the influence of parameters variation involved in the process (reservoir form and width, tributary hydrograph form) was conducted with project results estimated by the semi-analytic model. The semi-analytic model developed from adjustment of several curves using parameter variation of the hydrograph shape and the graphics, provided the problem solution without using attempts (right-wrong). This procedure has great utility mainly during the pre-project for a quick analysy. However it can be used in cases when the inflow follows the scs unitary hydrograph. The accuracy of the method depends of the correct select of parameters involved in the processo
