ResumoThe mechanism by which the multiple-band metal ${\mathrm{Sr}}_{2}{\mathrm{RuO}}_{4}$ is transformed to the antiferromagnetic insulator ${\mathrm{Ca}}_{2}{\mathrm{RuO}}_{4}$ by isovalent substitution is not yet understood in detail, but strong electron correlations play a key role. In an effort to probe the effect of the substitution, we have performed a study of the Hall effect in the ${\mathrm{Ca}}_{2\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Sr}}_{x}{\mathrm{RuO}}_{4}$ system. We argue that the results give information on the Fermi surface topography, and hence place useful constraints on theories of the evolution of the electronic structure with varying x.
