ResumoWhen, in 1564, took place, in the Roman College of the Society of Jesus, the first solemn distribution of prizes awarded to the best students who distinguished themselves in a literary contest, Pedro Perpinhao, professor and orator, was entrusted with the responsibility of drafting up the regulations from which the text Forma praemiorum publicorum later originated. For the composition of these regulations, Perpinhao presumably took advantage of the set of rules that had been outlined for a similar event held in 1557 in the Coimbra College of Arts, where he was teaching at the time, and for which he had been designated as a member of the judging committee. As such, he might have either produced or collaborated in the writing of the regulations in which he later sought inspiration to compose the aforementioned Roman text.
