Smith1described a wide variety of poisonous and allegedly poisonous mushrooms in a recent text. Cases of poisoning recorded in the medical literature are invariably attributed to the amanita group, theAmanita phalloidesand theA. muscariabeing the usual culprits. We recently had an opportunity to observe and treat two cases of unquestionable mushroom poisoning, caused by a hitherto undescribed poisonous species.
