ResumoThe diversity and sexual spacializations studies are focused mainly on large cities.Due to the small extent in the formation of a flexible market linked to desires and sexualities, and the idea of rigidity of local societies, it is trought that homosexuality is experienced with extreme difficulty, discrimination and prejudice in small towns. In this study we reveal an empirical research on the routine of subjects who are sexually oriented to the same sex, in small towns in Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. In it we demonstrate the drama of living a sexuality considered as deviant in these contexts, but we also reveal the rich tactics conceived with creativity and ingenuity by these individuals, to fully live their affectivity and their homoerotic desires. On the other hand, we are also going to show some interesting cases of political struggle for cultural and sexual recognition, that are very original and consistent in view of the non permissive environment which prevails in such regional contexts. In this paper, we will explore the researches performed in the cities of Santa Maria, Bagé, Alegrete, Uruguaiana and Itaqui, RS, Brazil.
