Asymmetric Hydrogenation and Catalysis

In addition to previous kinetic investigations, the carbonylation of methyl acetate to acetic anhydride has been studied by IR and UV spectroscopy. By using an optical high-pressure cell, catalytic intermediates have been identified. Mechanisms for the catalysis with rhodium, as well as iridium, compounds are proposed and discussed.
